Jan. 27, 2016 AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Supreme Court earlier th is month revised the income eligibility requirements for sexual assault survivors seeking free civil legal aid from LASSA. In response to a request from the Texas Access to Justice Foundation (TAJF), the Court on Jan. 17 issued an order requiring that victims living at 200% of the federal poverty level — instead of 125 percent — are eligible for help from LASSA.
“This is fantastic news,” said LASSA attorney Maricarmen Garza. “It will allow us to serve more people who have suffered sexual assault. We’re so grateful for the Supreme Court and TAJF for understanding the legal needs of sexual assault survivors.”
