Keeping Eagle Pass Families Safe

keepfamiliessafeAdvocates from Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA)’s Legal Aid for Survivors of Sexual Assault (LASSA) Project joined approximately 200 members of the Eagle Pass community earlier this week at a full day seminar entitled Keeping Families Safe: A Coordinated Response to Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault.

Throughout the day, experts in the fields of domestic violence and sexual assault educated each other on topics such as protective orders, interviewing victims, and immigration issues. The keynote speaker was State Representative Poncho Nevarez.

The seminar was sponsored by the 293rd District Attorney’s Office, Eagle Pass Police Department, Texas Office of Court Administration, Texas Advocacy Project, Texas Association Against Sexual Assault, Texas Council on Family Violence, New Horizons-Quad Counties Council, Wintergarden Women’s Shelter, and Texas RioGrande Legal Aid.
